Bail Out Money Part 2

March 16th, 2009

So I previously discussed Bank of America and Ford and their shameless practices in the midst of this government bail out and the money that is coming out of our pockets to help these companies. Ford may not have taken money YET, but be assured it is coming. This govenment bail out is just too good for these companies to keep their hands off. Get all this money from congress so that they can continue to afford their nice cars and houses while the rest of us struggle every day.
Now none of these seem to even begin to compare to the shamelessness that AIG is performing. AIG has received over $180 Billion (with a capital B). They have placed over $32 billion in foreign banks and $12.9 billion in Goldman Sachs. Oddly enough the government placed CEO of AIG sat on Goldman Sachs board of directors just before being put in place at AIG. Some of the other ways they want to use the tax payer bail out is to give their executives nice little bonuses to the tune of $165 million and part of a larger $450 million bonus. Bonuses to reward them for their company losing over $60 billion last year. Bonuses so that AIG can retain “the best and brightest executive talent” that they can find. So your best and brightest drive the company to over $60 billion in losses and for that they get a reward? A reward that we the tax payers are funding?
Where is this going to end? Why are we funding these morally corrupt companies? Why am I struggling every single day to pay the bills and put food on the table but the government will give AIG billions so their execs can line their toilets with gold? When do we as a people finally rise up and refuse to allow the government to do this? When do we have to get fed up enough and tired enough of the government bullshit before we stand as solidified mass and refuse to allow this to happen?

Bail Out Money

March 13th, 2009

Ok so let me get this right:

Ford needs bail out money to keep going and not have to start layoff or shutting down plants. So what do they do? Become the headline sponsor for this year’s American Idol chock full of product placements and commercials in between every segment.

Bank of America needs bail out money. So what do they do? Sponsor the NFL Experience outisde of this years Super Bowl.

This is what MY money is going for? THIS is what they need money for? How about saving people’s jobs by cutting these costs and keep the needed money in payroll and keeping the company afloat. You are fucking FORD and BANK OF AMERICA! We know your brand name. More advertisement is not going to make us know you more.

Where is MY damn bail out money? I need a few million for commercial space too!

The passing of a sci-fi icon

March 9th, 2009

Another master of science fiction has passed on…

Philip Jose Farmer passes on.

And the Oscar goes to…

February 22nd, 2009

Oscar night is upon us, and I have tirelessly watched all of these depressing films to give you a little insight into tonight’s awards. All the films are great, and since I know most of you haven’t seen any of them outside of The Dark Knight and WALL-E, I thought I would provide a little insight.

Lets look at the films that are up for most of the big awards.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons - Brad Pitt (Picture; Director; Actor; Supporting Actress; Adapted Screenplay)

The story of a child that is born old and ages young. One of the more enjoyable films out of this bunch. However, it is so much like Forrest Gump that I’m surprised it has received as many nominations as it has. Look for it to be shutout in the major categories.

Frost/Nixon – Frank Langella (Picture; Director; Actor;  Adapted Screenplay)

A surprisingly entertaining film about David Frost’ efforts to get an interview with Richard Nixon after his resignation, and the difficulties Frost went through in not only getting the interview sold to the major networks, but getting Nixon to admit some guilt in Watergate. This film is considered a dark horse in most categories, but look for a possible upset at Best Actor

Milk – Sean Penn, Josh Brolin (Picture; Director; Actor; Supporting Actor; Original Screenplay)

The story of Harvey Milk, a gay businessman, activist and eventually politician in the Castro District of San Francisco. Up for all the major awards. It’s best chance is probably at Best Original Screenplay and Best Actor. (A gay Jew? Tell me Hollywood won’t love that! If he was only in the holocaust…)

The Reader  - Kate Winslet (Picture; Director; Actress; Adapted Screenplay)

The story of a December/May romance with a Nazi twist. An original story performed wonderfully by Kate Winslett, who graces us with gratuitous nudity throughout the film. Best shot for a statue is Leading Actress.

Slumdog Millionaire (Picture; Director; Adapted Screenplay)

The moving story of an uneducated young man from the slums of Mumbai, who gets onto the Indian (Dot not feather) version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire, and performs well above expectations. Expect to hear this movies name preceded by “And the Oscar goes to…” several times.

The Wrestler - Mickey Rourke, Marisa Tomei (Actor; Supporting Actress)

A powerful look behind the scenes at lower level pro wrestling, and how an aging former pro handles life away from the limelight of the bigtime. A completely engaging film that could easily win both of the top major awards it’s nominated for. Rourke is fantastic as the Wrestler. Tomei is brilliant as the pole dancing love interest. (nude and hot!)

Super Bowl XLIII

February 3rd, 2009

Alright so the Super Bowl is now over and done with and I can go back to hoping for next year. The game was actually quite good with a few serious flaws.

1. The Officiating sucked almost as bad as it has all year long. This was a truly awful year for bad calls and something needs to be done. I am sick of hearing “It’s the human factor”. Hell with that. We are in an age where our daily lives are improved by not using just the “human factor” anymore. I want games called accurately. Bring instant replay back in full force. I like sitting for 9 hours on a Sunday watching football. I can take 12 hours. Bring replay completely back.

2. The Cowboys were not in the Bowl. For a year that Jerry Jones spent the money to built a Super Bowl team, this was a truly disappointing year. The Cowboys need to quit being media hogs and focusing on whether or not they make it into the news, and focus on damn football. It is their damn job! They are paid MORE than enough to focus on work. Quit making a joke of yourselves and figure out how to play as a team. Quit being tit babies and idiots and play the damn game!

3. I am NOT, repeat, NOT a Steelers fan but I see every one of their games. I have a lot of respect for the team since they know how to play as a team and actually show class on the field. However, James Harrison’s cowardly act in the game was disgusting. He should have been ejected from the game. If the referee’s wouldn’t do it, Mike Tomlin should have. Harrison should be heavily fined and suspended from the Pro Bowl, possibly even stripped of his MVP title for that horrid act on the field. I lost a tremendous amount of respect for him as a person and player.

4. Really? Matt Millen as an analyst? The man who drove a franchise so far into the ground that they had the worst season in NFL history? This man should have any credibility as an analyst? Why the hell should I buy into anything he had to say at halftime when he obviously did not know shit from Shinola about anything? You build an 0-16 team and you should have the cred to analyize a football game? What the hell was wrong with NBC? What were they thinking?

5. John Madden. I have loved watching his broadcasts for years now but I think it is finally time to hang it up and retire to your bus. He was not good this year and I think he slipping badly during broadcasts. I am not sure he is entirely there for the whole game. He might be asleep a time or two. Go out on top John and retire before you become an embarrassment like Frank Gifford did. Don’t go down that path. Retire while we still remember the good days of your commentating.

So overall I enjoyed the game itself. I saw two teams fight for the trophy every second of the game. There were no give ups and it was not a blow out. Every second of the game had to be played with full intensity. Congratulations to The Steelers for their 6th Super Bowl win and congratulations to The Cardinals for a hard fought season. Both teams should feel proud of their accomlishments. Except for James Harrison. Asshole.

Happy Bush go home day

January 20th, 2009

Well it has been quite some time since I have posted but what better day than the ousting of the devil himself, George Bush.

So the evil incarnate administration is on its way out the door and we usher in a new era under a historical new president. Will this administration be any better? Well we can certainly hope it is not NEAR as corrupt and that they actually have the well being of the country at heart. Whether or not Obama can actually do a good job or not, his first term will be riddled with trying to fix the screw ups of the previous adminstration. In the end, if the economy does not get better and everything is not fixed within his four years, he may become unpopular as well and never see a second term. I guess we will then get to see Palin come back again to try and run as the front man (woman) this time.

The Dark Knight

July 18th, 2008

I saw the premiere for The Dark Knight last night. Early review after the first viewing: SPECTACULAR!!!! This movie moves and moves and moves. Heath Ledger as The Joker BLOWS AWAY all previous Jokers. That is a pretty tough task as I thought no one could ever top Nicholson’s Joker. My advice is to rush out and see it. I am ready to see it several more times now to catch things I missed the first time. So much happens in the movie it will without a doubt take multiple viewings to take it all in.
